Nairobi, June 09 (Darfur24)
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have arrested several National Congress Party (NCP) leaders, security personnel, and employees of international organizations in West Darfur State in recent weeks on allegations of espionage and cooperation with hostile entities, informed sources told Darfur24 on Monday.
According to the sources, those detained include Issa Adam Baraka, head of the National Congress Party in West Darfur, along with several other party officials who were arrested during the past three weeks.
The arrest campaign also reportedly targeted more than seven members of the intelligence and police services, as well as three employees responsible for security and safety operations at El Geneina Airport.
Sources further stated that two employees of international humanitarian organizations, including Doctors Without Borders and CRS, were also detained, although no additional details were provided regarding the accusations against them.
Most of the detainees have reportedly been transferred to Nyala in South Darfur State, where investigations are ongoing.
The RSF has periodically carried out arrest campaigns in areas under its control, often accusing detainees of collaborating with or providing intelligence to the Sudanese army. Many of those arrested are subsequently transferred to detention facilities in Nyala for further investigation.
