Two civilians were killed and more than 20 others injured on Sunday when a drone, believed to have been operated by the Rapid Support Forces, struck El Obeid in North Kordofan State, according to local sources.
Sources told Darfur24 that a woman in the Al-Nadhir neighborhood and a man were killed by shrapnel, while more than 19 others were injured.
The sources said the attacks lasted from about 4 a.m. until 5 p.m., causing widespread panic and prompting the closure of government offices, shops and markets across the city.
The strikes came shortly after earlier air attacks on El Obeid had ended, according to residents.
The city and surrounding areas of North Kordofan have witnessed a sharp increase in drone attacks in recent months amid the ongoing conflict.
Previous attacks have targeted residential neighborhoods and vital infrastructure, including fuel stations and water and electricity facilities, causing civilian casualties and disrupting essential services.
