Al-Junaynah, July 04 (Darfur24)

More than 6,000 people have fled their homes in Kulbus locality, West Darfur State, following a deterioration in the security situation, with most seeking refuge across the border in Chad, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Thursday.

In an emergency alert, the IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) reported that approximately 6,005 people were displaced on June 29 from the town of Kulbus and the nearby villages of Wadi Bardi, Arwa and Adarib.

According to the DTM, the majority of the displaced crossed into neighboring Chad in search of safety.

The agency said the security situation in the area remains volatile and continues to evolve, adding that it is closely monitoring developments and will issue further updates on displacement and population movements in Sudan as more information becomes available.
