Nyala, June 07 (Darfur24)

The TASIS Alliance government on Sunday launched its first Sudanese Certificate examinations in areas under its control, with alliance leader and Rapid Support Forces commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti” officially opening the exams at Unity Secondary School for Girls in Nyala, South Darfur.

The examinations mark the first secondary school certificate tests to be organized by the Ta’sis government, which has established Nyala as its administrative headquarters.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Hemedti said the government attaches great importance to the education sector and is committed to restoring the educational process after years of disruption caused by conflict and instability.

He described education as a key pillar in efforts to rebuild public institutions and improve services for citizens in areas administered by the alliance.

The exams were originally scheduled to begin last Wednesday but were postponed for three days to allow more students time to reach examination centers, according to previous statements by Information Minister Khalid Danaa.

The launch of the examinations comes amid ongoing political debate over the implications of the move, particularly regarding governance, institutional legitimacy, and the future of Sudan’s divided education system.

The TASIS Alliance, which includes the Rapid Support Forces, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, and other armed groups, has established a parallel administration in territories under its control, including most of Darfur, West Kordofan, and parts of North and South Kordofan.
