Singo, April 23 (Darfur24)

An air strike targeting the Agbesh gold mine in the town of Singo, South Darfur State, on Tuesday killed four people and injured six others, as a wave of aerial attacks continues across parts of Darfur.

Local sources told Darfur24 that the strike hit a market and the headquarters of Al-Junaid Company within the Agbesh mine. Among those killed was an engineer working for the company, while the injured were transported to Nyala for treatment.

“The strike was direct and highly destructive, hitting the center of activity inside the mine and causing significant losses within minutes,” one source said.

Sources added that eight vehicles were destroyed in the attack, including six dump trucks and two combat vehicles. The facilities at the site also sustained significant damage.

Another witness reported that more than five consecutive explosions were heard during the strike, followed by the immediate closure of satellite internet service shops in the area.

The attack is part of a series of air raids carried out over the past 72 hours by drones believed to be operated by the Sudanese army, targeting multiple locations across the Darfur region.

The Sudanese army had previously conducted air strikes on the Al-Junaid Company’s facilities at the Agbesh mine, putting them out of service before operations resumed in November last year.

As of the time of publication, the Sudanese army has not issued an official statement on the latest attack, amid growing concern over the continued targeting of vital economic sites in the region.
