Al-Junaynah, April 13 (Darfur24)
At least 17 civilians were killed and 14 others injured in two drone strikes on separate sites in West Darfur State on Sunday, according to local sources, in attacks believed to have been carried out by the Sudanese army.
Sources told Darfur24 that one strike targeted the Customs area market in El Geneina, killing 13 civilians, including five women who were selling tea and vegetables. Several others were wounded in the attack.
They added that some of the victims’ bodies were severely burned, making identification difficult. At the same time, several shops constructed from local materials were destroyed by the fire caused by the explosion.
In a separate incident, another drone strike hit a civilian vehicle near the Sisi area, about 40 kilometers along the road linking Al-Junaynah and Zalingei.
The sources said the attack killed five passengers and injured others, though the exact number of wounded remains unclear.
The twin strikes come amid escalating aerial attacks across Darfur, which have increasingly affected civilian areas, including markets and transport routes, raising concerns over the growing toll on non-combatants.
