Um Dafuq, April 13 (Darfur24)

Security tensions have escalated along the Sudan–Central African Republic (CAR) border after the killing of several Sudanese civilians inside Central African territory, prompting threats of retaliation from relatives of the victims.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 on Sunday that two Sudanese men were killed while collecting firewood about 25 kilometers inside the Central African Republic. A third man was injured in the same incident and later died after being transferred to Birao Hospital.

Sources added that local authorities in the city of Birao discovered the body of a fourth Sudanese man, who was missing in the same area, a day after the attack.

Following the news of the deaths, dozens of relatives gathered in Um Dafuq, vowing to carry out retaliatory attacks across the border.

Witnesses reported that the situation remains tense, with concerns about a further escalation if the situation remains the same.

In response, the civilian administration affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces, along with local authorities in Um Dafuq locality, called on the victims’ families to exercise restraint and return to their homes, pledging to follow up on the incident.

The developments come amid growing insecurity along the Sudan–CAR border, where repeated cross-border incidents have heightened fears of wider violence in the area.
