A large section of the market in Al-Naim, North Darfur State, was destroyed in an airstrike after Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters deployed in the area, local sources told Darfur24 on Monday.
According to the sources, a large RSF force arrived in Al-Naim on Sunday and positioned itself in the market, residential neighborhoods, and beneath trees. The force also reportedly banned civilians from using Starlink satellite internet services.
Residents reportedly confronted the RSF over its presence, fearing that the deployment would expose the area to attacks by the Sudanese army.
The sources said the Sudanese army later carried out an airstrike targeting the area, causing extensive damage to the market and destroying a civilian vehicle. No civilian deaths were reported.
Following the strike, the RSF reportedly withdrew toward the Umm Badr area.
Separately, the Dar Hamid Emergency Room said on Saturday that Sudanese army warplanes and drones had targeted several RSF vehicles after the group established positions in areas between Kordofan and Darfur.
The emergency room said the RSF had set up bases in Al-Naim, Armal south of Al-Naim, Abu Adham, Umm Nahal, Al-Daris and East Al-Daris, Hallat Hamid, Jabal Hallat, and the Sharif Kabashi area.
It also accused the RSF of banning the use of Starlink internet services and intimidating residents by imposing restrictions on civilians in villages where its forces had deployed.
