Qaysan, March 30 (Darfur24)
More than 1,600 people have been displaced from Qaysan in Sudan’s Blue Nile region amid rising fears of further fighting, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said.
In a statement, the agency revealed that about 1,645 people, or 329 families, fled the town on March 25 due to escalating insecurity, relocating to Al-Rusayris and Wad Al-Mahi localities.
The displacement comes amid concerns that the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North may launch an attack on Qaysan, days after seizing control of Kurmuk.
The IOM said the situation remains tense and highly unstable, with displaced families facing difficult humanitarian conditions.
The Blue Nile region has seen growing insecurity following the takeover of Kurmuk, which triggered new waves of displacement and raised fears of further military escalation in surrounding areas.
