Al-Junaynah, March 12 (Darfur24)
The Ministry of Health in West Darfur State announced that 34 health centers have ceased providing medical services in several localities over the past two months, following the suspension of donor-funded support.
The Director General of the health ministry, Dr. Mohamed Musa, told Darfur24 that the centers went out of service after funding for international organizations responsible for running them was halted.
He explained that the affected facilities are distributed across several localities, including 12 centers in Al-Junaynah city, eight in Krinik locality, seven in Sarba locality, three in Kalbus locality, and two centers each in Habila and Jabal Mun localities.
Musa stated that some centers ceased providing services completely after their financial support was cut, while the IMC organization redirected its activities to mental health services at Al-Junaynah Hospital, amid a growing number of patients in need of such care.
He warned that the closure of these health centers could significantly worsen the health situation in the state, particularly as medical needs continue to rise. He called on humanitarian organizations and donor agencies to intervene urgently to fill the gap and restore health services for residents.
