Kortala, Darfur24 (Darfur24)

A humanitarian aid convoy was attacked by a drone on Thursday while traveling to Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, according to local sources.

The convoy, believed to belong to the United Nations, came under fire in the southern direction of Kortala village in the Habila locality.

A government employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Darfur24 that at least one of the convoy’s trucks was damaged, and thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the site of the attack. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Kortala is part of the “Six Mountains” region, which includes Al-Kurur, Al-Kafir, Al-Kadru, Kaldji, and Al-Dabbatna. The village is surrounded by Dilling, Dalami, and Habila.

The attack highlights the increasing dangers faced by humanitarian workers in conflict-affected areas of Sudan, as aid convoys continue to navigate volatile regions to deliver assistance to civilians in need.
