Kordofan, January 30 (Darfur24)

A displaced young man from Al-Nuhud city was shot dead by gunmen on Wednesday in a rural area north of the city, in a new incident highlighting the deteriorating security situation in parts of West Kordofan.

Sources told Darfur24 that the victim, Yasser Abdelrahman Mohamed, a resident of Al-Maamoura neighborhood in Al-Nuhud, was returning to his temporary residence in Umm Labana village after transporting drinking water to his family from Umm Sabagha village using a donkey cart.

According to the sources, an armed group intercepted the young man with the intent of robbing him. When he attempted to resist, they opened fire on him, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

The sources confirmed that those responsible for the killing have not yet been arrested.

Villages located east and north of Al-Nuhud city have recently witnessed a surge in killings, looting, and other violations, amid growing complaints from residents about the absence of an effective role by the authorities in providing security and pursuing perpetrators.
