Kordofan, January 28 (Darfur24)

Field tracking data from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) shows that an estimated 88,316 people were displaced from the Kordofan region between October 25, 2025, and January 15, 2026. The displaced were monitored across 526 locations in 69 localities in 13 Sudanese states.

Tracking teams recorded 65 displacement incidents during the period, including 46 in South Kordofan, 18 in North Kordofan, and one in West Kordofan.

According to the data, most internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kordofan settled in North Kordofan State (25 percent), particularly in Sheikan locality, which received 11,910 IDPs, and Al-Rahad locality, which hosted 7,455. White Nile State followed with 21 percent, mainly in Kosti locality (7,076 IDPs), Rabak (4,095), and Ad-Duwaym (3,632). IDPs were also recorded in South Kordofan (13 percent), Khartoum (11 percent), and Northern State (10 percent).

The report indicated that 62 percent of those displaced originated from North Kordofan, followed by South Kordofan at 37 percent, while less than 1 percent fled from West Kordofan.

Meanwhile, the IOM reported that the Kordofan region currently hosts approximately 1,023,154 internally displaced persons across 1,936 locations in 36 localities. West Kordofan hosts the largest share with about 416,654 IDPs, followed by South Kordofan with 383,558, and North Kordofan with 222,942.

The security situation in Kordofan continues to deteriorate amid escalating clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, particularly in North and South Kordofan, driving repeated waves of displacement in recent months.
