Nyala, January 19 (Darfur24)
The Sudanese Founding Alliance (Ta’sis) on Thursday accused the Sudanese army and armed movements allied with it, known as the Joint Forces, of carrying out attacks against civilians in villages in Kordofan between January 15 and 17.
In a statement issued in his name, Ta’sis spokesperson Alaa Naqd alleged that army forces and allied movements killed 220 herders, arrested large numbers of residents, and left 912 people missing. He further accused the troops of looting livestock, including 270 camels, 850 cows, and large numbers of goats and sheep.
Naqd listed the villages he said were targeted, including Aluba, Umm Qulayb, Dubaykar, Al-Idiyah Quraan, Al-Harijiz, Rakuna, Umm Ramta, Al-Fadliyyin, Al-Burayka, Al-Sunaytab, Al-Buhayra, Al-Narjis, Al-Humayra, Al-Baraka Al-Madina, Al-Basma, Al-Dubayba, Umm Kridim, Shushay, and Umm Habila. Some of the locations named, including Umm Ramta and Al-Sunaytab, are situated in White Nile State.
He described the incidents as “genocide and ethnic cleansing,” accusing the army and allied armed movements of pursuing a policy of ethnically motivated violence.
