The executive director of Al-Daein locality, the capital of East Darfur State, Mohamed Osman Adam, has issued a series of local orders imposing new restrictions on commercial and social activities in the city.
The orders include a ban on arms trading in the main market and a prohibition on women working during evening hours.
Copies of the orders obtained by Darfur24 stipulate a fine of one million Sudanese pounds for those involved in arms trading inside Al-Daein’s central market, along with confiscation of weapons and imprisonment in cases of repeated violations. The orders also impose a fine of 500,000 pounds on women found working at night, in addition to other legal measures.
The directives further prohibit the consumption of drugs and alcohol in public places, including tea shops, shisha cafés, and viewing clubs. They also ban playing the game “Ludo” in public spaces, markets, and viewing clubs.
Additional measures include a ban on placing beds in cafés and tea shops, prohibiting mixed seating on them, and banning night-time activities at sites lacking adequate lighting.
The local orders also mandate the relocation of workshops from the main market to their designated areas, the transfer of the car market from the central market to Airport Street, and the relocation of the fish market to the Dulaybah market south of the city.
