The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Al-Nuhud, West Kordofan State, imposed sweeping restrictions on civilian movement and commercial activity starting Wednesday, ordering residents to remain in their homes indefinitely, citizens told Darfur24.
Residents said the RSF announced the restrictions through loudspeakers in markets and public places, prohibiting people from leaving their homes or carrying out commercial activities without specifying how long the measures would remain in place or the reasons behind them.
According to the announcement, the measures include closing markets and the hospital, banning the use of Starlink satellite internet devices, and restricting vehicle movement in markets and residential areas. Motorcycles have also been banned from operating within residential neighborhoods.
The RSF warned residents against violating the orders, saying “deterrent legal measures” would be taken against anyone who failed to comply.
Citizens who spoke to Darfur24 said they believed the restrictions were linked to security and military arrangements inside the city. They suggested that the movement ban on major roads could coincide with RSF troop movements or the deployment of military equipment.
The RSF has controlled Al-Nuhud since May 2025. The city has witnessed heightened security tensions in recent months, leading to the displacement of some residents amid complaints of harassment and restrictions on civilian movement.
