Kadugli, December 12 (Darfur24)

South and North Kordofan have witnessed a surge in displacement over the past week, according to field data obtained by Darfur24 from monitoring teams with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which reported a rapid deterioration in security across several localities.

On December 10, the teams estimated that 330 people fled Kadugli town in South Kordofan following a spike in insecurity. The displaced have since moved toward various sites in Al-Rahad and Al-Sheikan localities in North Kordofan amid what the IOM described as “tense and rapidly changing conditions.”

Two days earlier, on December 8, the organization documented the displacement of 160 people from the village of Damik in Kadugli locality due to worsening security. Those displaced have spread across several areas within Eastern Rural and Kadugli localities.

A third wave was reported on December 9 in Al-Abbasiya locality, where 590 people fled the village of Karmujia amid rising tensions between local communities. The displaced sought refuge in multiple areas within Al-Abbasiya, where the situation remains volatile with no indication of stabilization.

On the same day, 235 more people were displaced from the village of Qurood Amardami in Talodi locality following renewed insecurity. They also dispersed across several sites within the locality, where conditions remain unstable and vulnerable to further deterioration.
