Taqali Al-Abbasiya, December (Darfur24)
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) announced that it had taken control of the Mabsoot garrison, located north of the Al-Murib area in Taqali Al-Abbasiya, South Kordofan, following what it said was the withdrawal of Sudanese Armed Forces from the site.
The movement stated that the takeover is part of a wider military campaign aimed at expanding its control over garrisons and military locations in the region, adding that its operations will continue in the coming days.
In a statement, the SPLM-N’s civilian authority accused the Sudanese Armed Forces of committing violations in several villages west of Al-Abbasiya Taqali between November 29 and December 2.
According to the statement, the attacks targeted the villages of Qardoud Niama, Tebessa, Damra Tours, Senadra, Chawaia, Mendraba, Toufine, Al-Badiriya, and Jbeilat Nasser, resulting in the deaths of five unarmed civilians, mostly children and elderly people, along with extensive destruction of homes, livestock deaths, and damage to farms and orchards, including frankincense trees.
The statement also alleged that the attackers used combat vehicles, motorcycles, and what it described as “deadly and internationally prohibited weapons,” which caused mass displacement among residents.
The SPLM-N detailed several incidents, including the killing of Sheikh Farah Ibrahim, a native administration leader in Tebessa, claiming he was attacked and his body left on a public road. It added that the Nuba neighborhood in the village was burned entirely, and that large numbers of residents were arrested, with some reportedly held in private homes converted into makeshift detention centers.
According to the statement, a shell strike in Mandaraba killed a displaced man from Al-Muwaylih and three of his children, while another shell in Al-Sanadra destroyed the home of citizen Najwa Adam Al-Awad and killed her livestock. The movement also reported widespread looting in Jbeilat Nasser, forcing residents to flee into nearby valleys and mountainous areas.
The statement further claimed that in Damra Tours, the Sudanese Armed Forces carried out a mass arrest campaign targeting community leaders and teachers, including Sheikh Suleiman Mukhtar and his brother Adam Suleiman. In Al-Badiriya, the statement reported the arrest of Hassan Al-Zaybaq and others whose identities had not yet been confirmed.
The SPLM-N and the newly formed administration of Tagali County held the Islamic Movement, the National Congress Party, and affiliated groups responsible for the alleged attacks.
Local authorities urged residents across Tagali to remain in their villages, warning that displacement could expose their communities to further attacks and looting.
