Babanusa, November 12 (Darfur24)
Sources in East Darfur disclosed on Wednesday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have offered financial incentives of $600 per fighter to encourage participation in military operations in the city of Babanusa, West Kordofan, where the headquarters of the Sudanese Army’s 22nd Division is located.
According to the residents of Al-Daein who spoke to Darfur24, the RSF deployed significant reinforcements from East Darfur to Babanusa after distributing cash incentives.
Several money exchange agents confirmed that hundreds of RSF fighters crowded money transfer points to convert U.S. dollars into Sudanese pounds.
Eyewitnesses reported that the RSF transported heavy weapons on large trucks under tight security escort toward Babanusa, while several wounded fighters were evacuated by ambulance to Adila for treatment.
Meanwhile, the civil and local administration in West Kordofan has requested that army personnel inside the 22nd Division headquarters allow them to leave the area safely, though the forces have not yet responded.
Fierce clashes erupted in Babanusa on Tuesday following an RSF attack on the army’s 22nd Division headquarters, which had been under siege for nearly two years.
On Wednesday, the RSF claimed to have shot down a Turkish-made drone in the Babanusa area, releasing footage showing parts of the aircraft engulfed in flames.
