El Fasher, October 6 (Darfur 24)
At least 15 civilians were killed and 21 others injured on Monday following renewed clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, North Darfur, according to eyewitnesses and medical sources.
Residents reported that heavy clashes erupted at around 6:00 a.m., with both sides exchanging artillery fire. Shelling struck Abu Shouk neighborhood in Hilla, killing and injuring dozens, including women and children.
A medical source told Darfur 24 that the city’s hospitals received dozens of dead and wounded on Monday morning as fighting intensified on multiple fronts.
Military sources said the RSF launched coordinated attacks, but the army and allied forces managed to repel the assaults.
Ibrahim Issa Khamis, a displaced resident, told Darfur24 that the renewed clashes have worsened the suffering of civilians in shelters. “Most of the displaced are now sleeping in the open on the streets of the western sector of El Fasher, without access to necessities,” he said.
Meanwhile, over the past three months, the humanitarian situation in El Fasher has continued to deteriorate as clashes between the army, allied forces, and RSF have intensified. Severe food shortages and a lack of goods in local markets have led to the closure of most kitchens and lodges serving displaced families.
According to Ministry of Health figures, more than 300 civilians have been killed and hundreds wounded, while thousands have fled to Mellit, Tawila, Korma, and the Jebel Marra region.
