El Fasher, October 4 (Darfur24)

At least 17 civilians were killed and more than 30 others wounded on Friday when the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched heavy artillery strikes on residential neighborhoods, displaced persons’ compounds, and the Saudi Hospital in El Fasher, according to eyewitnesses and local sources.

Residents said RSF drones hovered over the city from the early morning hours, followed by waves of intense shelling that continued until sunset. The attacks caused widespread destruction and a high number of civilian casualties.

The bombardment targeted Abu Qurun Market, large parts of the Abu Shouk neighborhood, and three displaced persons’ compounds in Al-Daraja Al-Ula. The Saudi Hospital was also hit, killing and injuring several people, including patients inside the facility.

A doctor at the hospital, who requested anonymity, told Darfur24 that the hospital received dozens of dead and injured, including victims of the hospital strike itself. He said the operating room was partially destroyed.

Darfur24 reporters saw dozens of bodies and wounded people in the hospital’s emergency department, including unidentified victims and others who arrived unaccompanied.
