Khartoum, September 9 (Darfur 24)

Drones carried out heavy airstrikes on multiple sites in Khartoum State on Tuesday, residents and local sources said, in the latest escalation of the conflict.

Mohammed Ismail, a resident of Omdurman, reported explosions near the Wadi Saydna military base in Al-Jarafa and the Al-Markhiyat training camp, close to the Omdurman power station. The blasts caused power outages in large parts of the city. Darfur24 could not independently verify whether the power station was hit.

A journalist in Khartoum Bahri, speaking on condition of anonymity, said drones targeted areas north of Jelei, where an oil refinery and army camps are located. He reported seeing columns of fire and smoke as explosions echoed across the city.

Eyewitnesses in the Azhari and Mayo neighborhoods also reported drones hovering before firing at unconfirmed locations, triggering panic among residents.

The Sudanese army and allied forces announced in May that they had taken control of Khartoum State after heavy clashes with the Rapid Support Forces in the Al-Salha suburb, southwest of the capital.
