The family of Mohammed Al-Tayeb, 32, said the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) detained him and three other young men in Al-Daein, East Darfur State, while they were traveling from Bilel locality in South Darfur to gold-mining areas in Northern State under Sudanese army control.
The RSF has imposed restrictions on young people traveling to areas controlled by the army in central and northern Sudan.
A relative of Al-Tayeb told Darfur24 that RSF intelligence officers raided the group at Al-Baroush market in Al-Daein, accusing them of belonging to armed groups before taking them to an undisclosed location.
The detainees have been held for 15 days, according to the family, while the local administration in Bilel is working to secure their release through contacts with local authorities in Al-Daein.
Darfur24 previously reported that the RSF uses various measures to prevent civilians from traveling to army-controlled areas, including arrest and detention. Some detainees are reportedly transferred to Daqris prison, while others are released after paying money.
