Nairobi, July 30(Darfur 24)
Clashes resumed on Wednesday between the Rapid Support Forces RSF and the Sudanese army SAF, supported by allied armed movements, in the areas of Umm Sumaima, Bara, and Jabrat al-Sheikh in North Kordofan.
According to field sources, the clashes erupted following new military movements by the Sudanese army to advance in the areas of Bara, Jabrat al-Sheikh, and Umm Sumaima, amid reports of heavy use of heavy weapons and casualties. No confirmed death toll is yet available.
Fighters affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces published videos documenting their control of Sudanese army military vehicles, while media professionals loyal to the Sudanese army published videos showing some of the military movements around the city of Bara.
The Umm Sumaima area, which is of strategic importance due to its proximity to the western supply route leading to El Obeid, has witnessed several battles in recent months.
