Nyala, May 30(Darfur 24)

Darfur 24 has obtained information confirming that a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) training camp and Nyala Airport were attacked Wednesday night, resulting in explosions in the area.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that they saw a red light flashing for a minute in the southern direction of the city at approximately 11:45 P.m. before hearing a loud blast.

According to Darfur 24 sources, the explosion occurred inside the Kashalango training camp of the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in injuries among soldiers.

Darfur 24 was unable to determine the source of the attack, but social media pages loyal to the Sudanese army reported an airstrike on Nyala.

Eyewitness accounts from Darfur 24 regarding the source of the explosion conflicted. One resident of southern Nyala said he heard the sound of an Antonov aircraft before hearing the explosion near the training camp.

Another witness reported that a family living in the Al-Wahda South neighborhood lost their son, who was training at the Kashlungu camp, which was attacked.

A medical source also revealed to Darfur 24 that at least 15 injured people arrived in the early hours of Thursday morning at a hospital near the Kashlungu camp. The source did not specify the nature or cause of these injuries.

About half an hour after the explosion at the training camp, a cargo plane belonging to the Rapid Support Forces landed at Nyala Airport.

In this context, three identical sources from the eastern neighborhoods of Nyala confirmed to Darfur 24 that an explosion occurred near Nyala International Airport at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday. According to the sources, they also saw a red light before the explosion.

Other witnesses from northeast Nyala said that the explosion, which targeted the vicinity of Nyala International Airport, was caused by a drone.
