The South Darfur Founding Assembly announced on Monday the approval of the 2025 annual budget submitted by the state’s civil administration, which is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The civil administration’s media office said in a statement that the budget approved by the Founding Assembly amounts to 37 billion Sudanese Pounds.
The head of the Founding Assembly, Adel Al-Malik, called for adherence to budget guidelines to meet citizens’ needs.
He revealed the formation of committees to support educational and police facilities within the new budget.
For his part, the head of the Founding Assembly’s Economic Committee, Ismail Matar, stated that the new budget faces challenges and complications due to the war and its impact on the economy.
He called for adherence to laws and regulations related to controlling revenues and expenditures and their transfer to the state Ministry of Finance, and for activating revenue sources by developing markets, especially the Nyala Grand Market.
This is the first financial budget for South Darfur State since the outbreak of the conflict on April 15, 2023.
