El Fasher, April 3(Darfur 24)

Military sources revealed on Wednesday that 14 soldiers belonging to the joint forces were killed as a result of an accidental artillery shelling by the Sudanese army inside El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

The army announced on Tuesday that it had made new military advances on the southeastern axis of El Fasher.

A senior source in the joint forces told Darfur 24 that 14 of their soldiers were killed as a result of an artillery shelling by the army on the southeastern axis on Wednesday morning.

For his part, a senior military source in the command of the Sixth Infantry Division confirmed to Darfur 24 that the joint force soldiers were killed during military operations on the southeastern axis by mistake.

The source stated that the army had received reports indicating casualties among the joint force during the sweeping operations conducted by the army along several combat fronts in El Fasher.

The source indicated that they had not yet confirmed the number of casualties before questioning the reasons for the presence of this force in enemy territory.

Another military source held the Joint Forces Command responsible, noting that the presence of any fighter, whether in the Joint Forces or the Army, in locations without prior coordination with the Army constitutes a military target.
