January 26, 2025 El-Fasher – Darfur24 Local sources reported on Sunday that scattered villages in “Golo” and “Shagra” areas west of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, are witnessing a reverse displacement to El-Fasher due to spread of RSF in these areas.

RSF spread in villages of Shagra and Golo after launching an attack on El-Fasher on Friday, which was repelled by the Army and the Joint Forces of the allied Armed Movements.

The Army’s warplanes carried out airstrikes on various villages, killing four civilians in “Hilla-Jadid,” located 9 kilometers west of El-Fasher.

Eyewitnesses told “Darfur24” that residents of the villages of “Kambi, Golo, Hilla-Al-Zain, Hilla-Omar, Farshlaq, Hilla-Dalal,” and other scattered villages in Shagra area were forced to flee due to the arrival of RSF elements following the recent battles in El-Fasher.

Haider Ismail, a resident of Hilla Al-Zain village, told “Darfur24” that after RSF spread around Shagra and Golo villages, they committed violations against the residents, including looting shops in Shagra market on Saturday morning.

Ismail pointed out that Golo and Shagra areas host thousands of displaced persons, some of whom fled their homes in Abu-Zereiga area, while others fled from El-Fasher. Some of them set up tents in the valleys and took them as temporary homes, but RSF’s spread forced them to flee again.

In the same context, Ahmed Yahya, a resident of Hilla Musa, told “Darfur24” that those fleeing from “Golo and Shagra” villages went in various directions, with some heading west towards the villages of Sarafaya and Tawila, and others heading east back to El-Fasher.

The UN-affiliated International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that the ongoing battles in El-Fasher have led to the displacement of more than 423,000 people between April 1 and December 16, 2024.

RSF has been launching attacks on El-Fasher since May 10, aiming to capture the last Army stronghold in Darfur. However, the Army and its allied Joint Forces have been fiercely defending the city.
