Al-Liri, October 28 (Darfur24)

Three people were killed and five others injured in a drone attack early Tuesday targeting water mills at three artisanal gold mining sites in Al-Liri locality, South Kordofan State, local sources told Darfur24. The attack was believed to have been carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Sources in Al-Liri said the drones struck water mills at the Al-Akhdar, Al-Karkar and Al-Dambalu mining sites at around 1 a.m. The initial toll was three dead and five injured, they said.

The three sites are in eastern South Kordofan, where artisanal and traditional gold mining is widespread.

The attack follows a series of drone strikes targeting artisanal mining sites in the state in recent weeks, including in the areas of Bajun and Al-Taqula.
