Nyala, June 22 (Darfur24)
Families in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, have reported the disappearance of three young men under mysterious circumstances, raising renewed concerns over a growing number of missing persons cases in the city.
Relatives identified the missing men as Munadil Adam Dahia, Al-Tay Hassan Al-Hadi, and Issam Ajban, describing their cases as part of a wider pattern of unexplained disappearances in Nyala.
According to family members, Munadil and Al-Tay were working as drivers of a Starx vehicle used for local transportation. They said the two men were approached by passengers at the main Nyala market transport station and agreed to drive them to Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur State, after negotiating the fare.
The families said the pair left for Zalingei in mid-December but never returned. Both the men and their vehicle have remained missing since then despite extensive efforts to locate them. After more than six months without any information, relatives are calling on local authorities to intervene and help determine their fate.
In a separate case, the family of Issam Ajban said he left his home on June 11 and has not been seen since.
Issam’s brother, Emad, told Darfur24 that the family searched police stations, hospitals, and detention facilities operated by the Rapid Support Forces but found no trace of him.
Residents have previously told Darfur24 that reports of people disappearing under unclear circumstances have become increasingly common in Nyala, affecting men, women, and girls alike.
Darfur24 documented the disappearance of three people in the city in April and reported six similar cases last year, amid continued concerns over the lack of information surrounding many of the incidents.
