Khartoum, May 27 (Darfur24)

Sudanese army chief and head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, announced plans to launch a comprehensive political dialogue inside Sudan aimed at reaching consensus on national governance and completing a civilian democratic transition, while rejecting what he described as externally imposed solutions.

In an Eid al-Adha address, Burhan said the government would invite national political forces to participate in the dialogue, excluding “those whose hands are stained with the blood of the Sudanese people.”

He stated that the government is committed to ensuring the success of the process and implementing its outcomes, stressing that the dialogue would take place inside Sudan and involve “those who are suffering,” rather than being shaped by foreign-based initiatives.

Burhan added that Sudanese people “will not accept the outcomes of conferences and dialogues in capitals where positions are bought and sold,” in an apparent criticism of international mediation efforts conducted abroad.

On the military front, the army commander praised public support for the armed forces during the conflict, describing the army as “the safety valve” for Sudan’s unity and stability.

He also vowed to continue military operations until “all of Sudan is cleansed of rebellion,” referring to the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which began in April 2023.

Burhan further said that Khartoum is beginning to “recover,” while pledging that authorities would continue efforts to restore security and provide basic services despite the country’s worsening humanitarian crisis and the effects of the war.
