Al-Tina, May 24 (Darfur24)

Five people were killed and nine others injured in a drone strike targeting the border town of Al-Tina near Chad, according to medical and military sources who spoke to Darfur24 on Sunday.

A medical source in North Darfur said the strike hit a popular restaurant in the town, leaving 14 people dead or wounded, including several civilians in critical condition who require urgent surgery at better-equipped hospitals.

A military source in the Sudanese army told Darfur24 that a strategic drone, believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces, flew over the town and launched more than four missiles, one of which struck the restaurant directly.

The attack comes amid escalating fighting in Darfur, where Al-Tina, along with Karnoi and Ambro, remains one of the last areas controlled by the Sudanese army and allied joint forces, after the Rapid Support Forces expanded their control across most of the region, including El Fasher, last October.
