Khartoum, May 23 (Darfur24)

One person was killed and two others injured in a suspected suicide drone strike targeting the Ombada area west of Omdurman in Khartoum State, according to eyewitnesses and sources on Saturday.

A medical source in Omdurman told Darfur24 that a drone crashed on Friday in one of Ombada’s neighborhoods, killing 13-year-old Arafat Othman and injuring his brother, Muhammad Othman, as well as another civilian identified as Abdullah Muhammad, 24.

Fatima Al-Zahra Mohammed, an eyewitness, told Darfur24 that at least three suicide drones were seen flying at low altitude over Omdurman before one of them crashed, causing civilian casualties.

She added that anti-aircraft fire could be heard across Omdurman late Saturday afternoon.

Neither the Sudanese army nor the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has issued an official statement regarding the incident or responsibility for the attack.

Since the outbreak of war in April 2023, Sudan has witnessed repeated drone attacks targeting both military and civilian areas controlled by the Sudanese army and the RSF.
