Khartoum, May 21 (Darfur24)

The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces, known as “Sumud,” warned of a deepening humanitarian crisis in Sudan amid the continued expansion of armed conflict and its growing impact on civilians, particularly in Darfur, Kordofan, and the Blue Nile region.

In a recent report, the coalition stated that around 34 million people require humanitarian assistance, while approximately 19.5 million are facing acute food insecurity. Among them, about 135,000 people are living under catastrophic famine conditions.

The report also warned that around 825,000 children are at risk of acute malnutrition, while between 13 and 14 million people have been displaced inside and outside Sudan since the start of the conflict.

According to the coalition, Darfur remains the center of the country’s most severe humanitarian emergency, with ongoing restrictions on aid access, repeated attacks on markets and displacement camps, rising malnutrition rates, and widespread collapse of health services.

The report said Kordofan has witnessed escalating military operations and drone attacks targeting markets and civilian villages, triggering new waves of displacement and worsening living conditions.

It also highlighted deteriorating conditions in White Nile State due to displacement, disease outbreaks, and limited humanitarian access, while renewed fighting in Blue Nile State has displaced thousands and disrupted essential services.

The coalition said Sudan’s health sector is facing near collapse, with more than 80 percent of health facilities either non-operational or functioning only partially because of attacks, shortages of medicines, and lack of medical personnel.

On human rights, the report warned of increasing violations against civilians, including indiscriminate killings, arbitrary arrests, sexual violence, and attacks on schools, markets, and critical infrastructure.

It added that drone attacks had become one of the leading causes of civilian casualties during 2026.

The coalition called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, unrestricted humanitarian access, protection of civilians, and urgent measures to prevent a total collapse of the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
