Dilling, May 18 (Darfur24)
Clashes erupted on Monday between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the village of Al-Tukma, east of Dilling city in South Kordofan State, amid conflicting reports over which side controls the area.
Military sources told Darfur24 that the army had taken control of the village following fighting that began around 11:00 a.m. inside and around Al-Tukma.
Army-affiliated fighters circulated videos claiming that their forces had succeeded in reopening the road linking Hibeila and Dilling after regaining control of the Al-Tukma area.
According to the sources, forces advancing from Dilling linked up with troops coming from Hibeila midway along the route.
The Sudanese army and the RSF have exchanged control of Al-Tukma several times during previous confrontations.
Neither side had issued an official statement regarding Monday’s clashes at the time of publication.
Al-Tukma village lies about 14 kilometers east of Dilling and is connected by several secondary roads linking it to Hibeila, Al-Rahad Abu Dakna and other parts of South and North Kordofan states.
