Al-Junaynah, May 11 (Darfur24)
The head of the civil administration in West Darfur State on Saturday officially launched the intermediate certificate examinations, which are being sat by 2,033 students across five localities in the state, amid administrative and security arrangements aimed at ensuring the exams proceed smoothly.
Speaking in a press statement, the head of the state’s civil administration, Al-Tijani Al-Tahir Karshoum, described education as a top priority for the government, calling it a key pillar for social stability and the future of coming generations.
He said the state authorities were committed to implementing the academic calendar prepared by the Ministry of Education in coordination with relevant bodies so that students are not deprived of their right to education or prevented from sitting for exams on schedule.
West Darfur State is currently under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, which have established a parallel civilian administration to oversee executive affairs.
Karshoum noted that the number of students sitting for the exams had increased significantly compared to last year, attributing the rise to the gradual return of refugees, displaced people, and newcomers to the state.
He added that authorities had also completed preparations for the Sudan Certificate examinations, stressing the government’s commitment to supporting the education sector and providing the necessary resources in cooperation with humanitarian organizations and partners.
According to Karshoum, these efforts will stabilize the educational process and improve the school environment across the state.
For her part, the Director General of the Ministry of Education and Guidance, Laila Jad Al-Rab, said the launch of the exams marks an important step toward restoring stability to the education sector in West Darfur despite the ongoing challenges facing schools and educational institutions.
