Khartoum, May 04 (Darfur24)

Multiple airstrikes hit key sites in Khartoum, including the airport, military facilities, and a camp in Omdurman, according to eyewitnesses and local sources.

Three sources told Darfur24 on Monday that a strategic drone targeted Khartoum Airport, the Signal Corps headquarters, and the army’s Al-Murkhiyat camp in Omdurman.

An eyewitness said the airport was struck by three missiles, with explosions heard across the capital and thick plumes of smoke rising from the site. Authorities reportedly evacuated civilians from the airport to nearby areas following the attack.

In Khartoum Bahri, another eyewitness reported that a drone strike hit the Signal Corps headquarters, as anti-aircraft fire echoed across the city. No immediate details were available regarding the extent of losses.

In Omdurman, sources confirmed that a drone targeted the Sudanese army’s Al-Murkhiyat camp, with smoke seen billowing from the site.

The latest strikes come amid a surge in drone attacks across the city. Three days ago, a passenger vehicle was hit in Al-Salha, southwest of Khartoum, killing five civilians, according to state authorities. Another drone strike targeted Jabal Awliya last week.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding Tuesday’s attacks or possible casualties.

Sudan has been engulfed in war since April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, with drones increasingly used to target both civilian and military areas.
