Abu Jabra, March 17 (Darfur24)

Three livestock traders were killed and three others injured in an armed robbery attack on Sunday while returning from a market south of Abu Jabra town in East Darfur State, local sources said on Monday.

The attack took place about 45 kilometers south of Abu Jabra when a vehicle carrying the traders was intercepted by gunmen in a combat vehicle, who opened fire on them.

Sources told Darfur24 that the traders had been returning from a market in Kordofan and were heading toward the “Timburko” area to purchase livestock when they were ambushed.

The assault resulted in the immediate death of three traders, while three others sustained injuries and were transferred to Al-Daein Hospital for treatment. The attackers also seized money belonging to the victims.

Sources added that the victims’ families have filed a complaint with the Federal Police affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces and have begun efforts to track down the perpetrators.

Several localities in East Darfur State have recently witnessed similar looting incidents, particularly as residents prepare for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday.
