Chad, March 06 (Darfur24)
Three children from the same family were killed and several others seriously injured after a fire broke out in the “Médé” camp for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, eyewitnesses said on Sunday.
Witnesses told Darfur24 that the fire erupted last Thursday and spread quickly through shelters made of straw and plastic, destroying several homes and causing significant material losses among camp residents.
They said the flames rapidly spread to neighboring shelters due to strong winds, making it difficult to control the blaze and leading to the destruction of several dwellings.
The incident comes amid a series of fires reported in Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad, raising concerns about worsening humanitarian conditions in the overcrowded settlements.
