Bara, March 06 (Darfur24)
The Sudan Armed Forces announced on Thursday that they had regained control of the city of Bara after battles with the Rapid Support Forces.
According to a statement issued by the army’s General Command, army units and allied forces were able to “liberate the city of Bara after fierce battles,” adding that RSF forces suffered losses in personnel and equipment and were forced to withdraw.
This marks the second time the army has recaptured the strategic city since the start of the war in Sudan in April 2023. The RSF had controlled Bara for much of the conflict before the army regained it in September last year, only to lose it again about a month later.
The military statement added that operations would continue until, in its words, “the entire homeland is cleansed.”
Bara, located in North Kordofan State, is considered a strategically important city and has witnessed repeated shifts in control between the army and the RSF over recent months.
