Special Report, February 23 (Darfur24)
Chadian authorities have shut down all border crossings with Sudan, including key humanitarian corridors, as security concerns mount along the frontier amid escalating clashes near the border with Chad, sources told Darfur24 on Sunday.
The sources said the closures affected crossings at Tine, Adré, Forbaranga, and Um Dukhun, adding that the measures were implemented without prior notice.
According to the sources, the decision is linked to developments in ongoing clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, supported by the joint force, in the Al-Tina area.
They said the closures were taken as a security precaution as fighting in Sudan has moved closer to the Chadian border, amid reports of Sudanese fighters entering Chadian territory.
On Saturday, RSF units launched an attack on the city of Al-Tina, described as one of the army’s remaining positions in the Darfur region, triggering intense confrontations between the rival forces and their allies.
