Nyala, February 14 (Darfur24)
Local sources reported on Saturday that the Rapid Support Forces released three teachers they had been detaining in the Bilel locality of South Darfur, following community-led mediation efforts.
The teachers had been arrested in January on accusations of collaborating with the armed forces and continuing to receive salaries from a government institution aligned with the Sudanese army.
A local source told Darfur24 that intensive meetings, involving community leader Abdul Rahman Abuh and an RSF intelligence commander in the locality, led to the release of Muhammad Bashari, Adam Othman, and Muhammad Abdullah Hassan.
The fourth teacher, Amin Zarrouk, remains in detention due to allegations linked to transferred funds. Local mediators say negotiations are continuing in an effort to secure his release.
According to the source, RSF authorities are demanding the transfer of funds from the teachers’ accounts as a condition for release. The group has also imposed strict security measures on teachers who refuse to teach while continuing to receive monthly salaries from the Ministry of Education and Guidance, which operates under military control.
