Kordofan, February 11 (Darfur24)
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that approximately 115,223 people were displaced from the Kordofan region between October 25, 2025, and February 5, according to data collected by its field tracking teams. The displaced populations were recorded across 586 locations in 75 localities spanning 13 Sudanese states.
IOM said North Kordofan State received the largest share of displaced people, accounting for 27% of the total. Most were concentrated in the localities of Sheikan, which hosted 16,785 displaced persons, and Al-Rahad, with 9,460. White Nile State followed with 21%, particularly in Kosti (12,661 displaced persons), Rabak (4,095), and Al-Duwaym (3,632). South Kordofan State received around 15% of the displaced population, mainly in Habila (3,010), Al-Abbasiya (2,960), Abu Jubaiha (2,775), and Al-Qouz (2,765).
During the same reporting period, IOM teams documented 81 displacement-triggering incidents, including 61 incidents in South Kordofan, 19 in North Kordofan, and one in West Kordofan.
The organization emphasized that its maps and datasets are intended for illustrative purposes only and do not imply formal recognition of place names or geographic boundaries.
The displacement comes amid a worsening security situation in Kordofan, driven by escalating clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, particularly in North and South Kordofan. The intensification of fighting in recent months has triggered repeated waves of civilian displacement.
On January 26, the Sudanese army announced that it had lifted the siege on the city of Dilling after its forces advanced from Hebeila, an area previously controlled by the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-North.
