Habila, January 31 (Darfur24)
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Saturday that thousands of people have been displaced from Habila and Al-Qouz localities in South Kordofan State due to escalating insecurity.
In a press statement obtained by Darfur24, the IOM reported that approximately 4,315 people were displaced on January 28, 2026, from several villages in Al-Qouz and Hebeila localities following a deterioration in the security situation.
According to the organization, the displaced fled from the villages of Dibkir, Al-Bashama, and Shushaya in Al-Qouz locality, as well as Al-Tital village in Hebeila locality, and sought refuge in Al-Rahad locality in neighboring North Kordofan State amid a tense and rapidly evolving situation.
The displacement comes days after the Sudanese army announced on January 26 that it had lifted the siege on the city of Dilling, after its forces advanced from Hebeila. The area had previously been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N).
South and North Kordofan states have recently witnessed intensified ground fighting and drone strikes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, contributing to repeated waves of displacement and worsening humanitarian conditions.
