Al-Geneina, June 15(Darfur 24)
Al-Tahir Hajar, a leader in the Sudan Constituent Alliance (Tasis) and chairman of the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance, said that the city of El Fasher in North Darfur State has become a horrific prison, without life or safety.
The ongoing conflict in El Fasher since May 11, 2024, has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with most of the city’s residents now relying on “Ambaze,” the remains of peanuts after oil extraction, as a food source.
In a tweet on the “X” platform, Al-Tahir Hajar called on those trapped in El Fasher and the nearby displacement camps to flee “the hell of the city, which has turned into a horrific prison, without life or safety.”
He added: “We offer you a glimmer of hope for life in safe areas, where decent food, water, medicine, and everything that preserves your humanity, away from the suffering of eating animal feed.”
Forces affiliated with armed groups within the Tassir Alliance have been active in evacuating thousands of displaced persons from El Fasher to several areas, including Korma and Tawila.
Al-Tahir Hajar indicated that Tassir Alliance forces are stationed along all roads to secure the exit of citizens from El Fasher, evacuate the sick and elderly, and provide safe transportation.
He continued: “We are destroying the lies of war agents who deceive people and drag them into a conflict in which they have no stake! They will be held accountable for their miscalculations that have turned El Fasher into hell.”
Armed clashes resumed in El Fasher on Sunday between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies.
The city of El Fasher is witnessing intermittent clashes as the RSF seeks to control the city, which contains the last stronghold of the army in the Darfur region.
The RSF maintains a firm grip on large parts of the eastern neighborhoods and some of the southern neighborhoods of El Fasher, while the army controls the western and northern neighborhoods, the city center, and some of the southern neighborhoods.
