Khartoum , December 25(Darfur24)Three sources in North Darfur confirmed on Wednesday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had taken full control of the towns of Ambro and Abu Qumra, which had been under the control of the army and the joint security forces in North Darfur State.
Rapid Support Forces (RSF) elements posted videos, verified by Darfur24, documenting their entry into the towns of Umbro and Abu Qumra on Wednesday.
A community leader in North Darfur told Darfur24 that a large RSF force, led by Brigadier General Abdullah Mohammed Shaghab, coming from the Zurq area, stormed and seized control of Umbro on Wednesday morning.
He indicated that most of the town’s residents had fled to Chad months ago, and others joined them a week prior following warnings issued by several RSF members in the local language.
A military source in the border town of Al-Tina, near Chad, stated that a force comprised of the army, the joint security forces, the police, and members of the popular resistance withdrew towards Al-Tina after limited clashes in Umbro.
Meanwhile, a local resident in Kutum, located approximately 136 kilometers northwest of El Fasher, reported the movement of large numbers of fighters from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), led by Suleiman Sandal, along with forces from the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Tahir Hajar and elements of the Transitional Council led by Al-Hadi Idris, advanced westward toward the areas of Karnoi and Amro two days ago.
He confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces had already seized control of the town of Abu Qumra in the Karnoi locality, after capturing the surrounding villages from all directions, including the areas of Inka, Baridik, Kurbia, and Umm Marahik.
He stated that the joint force withdrew to the border area with Chad, while some residents fled to the city of Kutum, the areas of Fataberno, and the Kassab camp.
