Armed clashes broke out between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the joint force of armed movements in the Bir Saliba area of Serba locality, north of El Geneina in West Darfur State, sources said.
Sources told Darfur24 that the fighting erupted after armed elements of the joint force infiltrated the Bir Saliba mountain range, where RSF forces are stationed.
They said the clashes were limited in scope but resulted in casualties on both sides, without providing further details.
Bir Saliba is considered a strategic stronghold near the Chadian border in western Darfur and witnessed intense fighting between the two sides last year.
Sources said the area remains active with joint force fighters affiliated with Commander Abbas Jabal Moon, who has been detained by the RSF since last June.
