Dilling, December 18 (Darfur24)

The city of Dilling in South Kordofan State was subjected to heavy artillery shelling from the western direction on Wednesday, reportedly carried out by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), resulting in deaths and injuries among civilians.

Sources told Darfur24 that the shelling began at around 7:00 a.m. and continued until approximately 12:00 p.m., targeting densely populated residential neighborhoods.

They said the bombardment initially focused on western neighborhoods of the city before extending eastward to the Al-Ma’aser neighborhood, triggering widespread panic among residents.

According to the sources, six civilians were killed, including three children, and several others were injured, some seriously.

The wounded were transferred to Al-Dilling Hospital and Um Bakhita Hospital for treatment amid severe shortages in medical supplies and mounting pressure on health facilities, particularly after the Military Medical Hospital went out of service following a recent drone strike, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement issued on Wednesday that 145 people were displaced from Dilling locality on December 15 and 16 due to escalating insecurity, continued shelling, and ongoing military tensions.

The statement said the displaced families fled toward Abu Jubaiha and Heiban localities in South Kordofan State in search of safer areas, as the situation in Dilling remains tense and highly volatile amid fears of renewed bombardment and further displacement.
