Nairobi, December 11 (Darfur24)
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating health of Sudanese journalist Muammar Ibrahim, who has been detained by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Nyala, South Darfur, for more than a month.
Sarah Al-Qudah, CPJ’s regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, said in a Facebook post that Ibrahim is now bedridden and experiencing severe pain, while the RSF continues to refuse both his transfer to a hospital and his release.
CPJ called for Ibrahim’s immediate release so he can receive urgent medical treatment.
The RSF arrested Ibrahim after taking control of El Fasher on October 26, later moving him to Nyala.
Ibrahim is one of the most prominent journalists who covered the conflict in El Fasher, providing daily reports for Al Jazeera on humanitarian conditions and developments in the city.
