Nyala, December 1 (Darfur24)

The Women’s Emergency Room in Nyala, South Darfur State, has carried out rehabilitation and maintenance works in several schools, including Al-Wahda Primary School and Ali bin Abi Talib Primary School in Nyala Municipality, in an effort to support the struggling education sector in the city.

The initiative comes amid severe shortages and limited resources facing educational institutions due to the ongoing war.

In a statement published on its Facebook page, the Women’s Emergency Room said the intervention aims to enhance the learning environment and improve basic services in schools. As part of the effort, 200 school bags were distributed to students, and new classroom seating was provided to help create a stable and conducive learning environment.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to support low-income families, ease the financial burden on students, and encourage children to continue their education despite the challenges.

The activities are part of the group’s broader efforts to strengthen education in vulnerable communities by improving essential services and safeguarding children’s right to learn within a safe environment.

The new school year in South Darfur began last September amid ongoing difficulties caused by the conflict and the deterioration of public services.
